About us

Treworgey is a 150 acre farm overlooking the beautiful Looe River Valley.  The 17 stone 5*Gold award cottages on the farm were all restored by us (the Wright family) over the last 40 years and we continue to own and run them today.  Every cottage has its own private garden and spectacular views.

We want you to love Treworgey as much as we do, and to feel as much 'at home' here as we do.

Our ethos

Luck has put us in charge of a beautiful piece of Cornwall, steeped in history, surrounded by wildlife, and scattered with beautiful ancient stone buildings.  We take great pleasure in sharing it with our guests and our team share our dedication to providing the best possible service.  We live on site and are on call 24 hours a day.

Treworgey gives us a wonderful (if hectic!) lifestyle and in return we love and nurture the place, buildings and the animals and plants that we share it with.  We are committed to providing our services in the 'greenest' way possible (see our green page), whilst supporting local businesses and preserving Cornish traditions.

In the beginning ...

In 1977, just back from honeymoon, we struck luck! We found and bought part of Treworgey Farm, then deserted and running to ruin amongst some of the loveliest scenery in Cornwall. We gradually bought and converted the derelict barns and the rest of Treworgey over a period of 20 years along with Coombe Farm, a charming farmstead several hundred years old, just 10 minutes’ walk along the lane. The 150 acre farm that came with Treworgey we used for grazing land for our sheep and horses. This is still the case for the most part though we now also grow 25 acres of miscanthus to provide our heating and hot water.

Our three children are very privileged to have grown up here, and until university, they had never lived anywhere else!

A three-generation family business

40 years on, we are now a three generation family business. Our daughter Jo and husband Alec came home in 2010 to take on much of the running of Treworgey.  Four years later they moved on to Alec's family home in Scotland, taking our first grandchild Juno with them. In the summer of 2013 our other daughter Holly left her job in London to take over from Jo and Alec here, along with her husband Andy. Our son Alistair was a Royal Marine for several years until he was injured in a motorbike crash.  He now lives a few miles away and is slowly converting a barn whilst living in it - just like Linda and Bevis 40 years ago!

We strive to continue to improve Treworgey as well as finding time for our other love - horses. Bevis is also a keen dinghy sailor and plays the piano.

We are lucky that we have a wonderful team of people helping us to make Treworgey the exceptional escape from every day life that it is. Several have been here for over 10 years and we live and work as an extended family.

"Many visits to Treworgey over the last 30 years. Linda and Bevis have done so much here since the early years when they lived in the very small caravan, which was their home and booking office. It is always a pleasure to return and see the progress they have made. ANNE AND DAVID MUNNINGS

"We are gradually making our way through all the cottages, our 6th one to date. I do think this one is special, so very peaceful apart from the odd owl at night and the sheep bleating in the day... Thank you to Linda, Bevis & their wonderful team who always bring a smile to our faces when we walk through the door, it really is a very special place." VALERIE & TONY MOULD, DEVIZES, WILTSHIRE

"After countless visits, (we first stayed here in 1978) another wonderful stay. It just gets better. Very  comfortable bed. Loved feeding the birds in the garden again. Scenery beautiful as ever. Be back soon."
