Food at Treworgey

Coombe Kitchen: home-made meals delivered to your cottage

Take the catering out of self-catering – let Jane & Hanna do the shopping, chopping and cooking – just relax and enjoy your holiday whilst we do all the work.

We are a mother and daughter team (with occasional help from the other members of the family, Lewis & Zoe). We offer a selection of carefully chosen individual dishes and family meals which we prepare with love and care, to our own special recipes. All the food is prepared from the finest quality ingredients in our kitchen at Coombe Farm. Wherever possible we use locally sourced produce from the wonderful variety available.

Deliveries are normally made daily, except Wednesday (not Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day), but may vary in winter. If you want a meal for a Wednesday it can be delivered the day before and kept in your fridge. We aim to deliver your meal by 6pm (4.30pm if you have ordered a Cream Tea or Afternoon Tea.

We are happy to cater for most special diets – please telephone us to discuss your needs.

HOW TO ORDER - Please telephone your order to Jane & Hanna on 07794743416
Or you can email us your order at coombekitchen@gmail.com (we always send a confirmation email for any order received - if you do not get this reply, please call!)

Many of our meals now come in three sizes – individual portions, size A portions (serving 3A or 2A&2C) or size B (serving 6A or 4A&4C). Please bear this in mind when ordering.

A MEAL FOR YOUR ARRIVAL – You can order by 7pm the day before you would like your meal to be delivered, although as much notice as possible would be appreciated as weekends are especially busy.

DURING YOUR HOLIDAY - You can order before 7pm the day before you would like your meal to be delivered although more notice is greatly appreciated. You don’t need to be in, we will leave your meal in your fridge (please leave some space)

HEATING INSTRUCTIONS - When you decide you are ready to eat, just follow the simple instructions printed on the back of your receipt.

CHILDRENS PORTIONS - For those of you with smaller appetites or for children we offer smaller portions of all main courses at 2/3rds of the quoted single portion price.

HOW TO PAY - You can pay for your meal(s) in the office, at the end of your holiday by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Please make a cheque payable to ‘Coombe Kitchen’. If you prefer to use BACs please contact us or Coombe Kitchen for these details.

A SPECIAL OCCASION - If you are planning a special celebration such as birthday, anniversary or family gathering, Jane and Hanna will be happy to talk to you about catering at your cottage or cottages for special events.

Our own Farm Shop

The local produce stall, in our new Information Room, is run by a local farmer, Janice Rose.  Janice sells her own organic meats, eggs and even home-made cakes and ice-cream in the shop depending on the season. You won't find your weekly shop here, but a small selection of truly local delights from home grown chili products to home produced honey, and a few essentials such as Cornish milk and butter (and a few 'essentials' such as the odd chocolate bar too). Definitely worth stopping by while you're here to pick up a tasty treat.

And once you've browsed the stall, pick up one of our folders of local info, help yourself to a cuppa and admire the view from a comfy sofa - all in our new information room!

Groceries

Local Cornish grocery deliveries: Local produce (as well as the usual boxed cereals, tea, coffee etc) can be delivered to your cottage by food4myholiday ready for your arrival. Food For My Holiday will contact us so produce can be ready and waiting in your cottage, even if you haven't arrived yet.

Supermarket deliveries: Waitrose, Tesco and Asda also all deliver here. You will need to pick a delivery slot for a time when you will be in the cottage as supermarket delivery drivers are unlikely to come and find us to let them in if no-one is there. Please put the name of your cottage and our usual address on your order.

Local veg and breakfast produce box deliveries: can be ordered from Janice by selecting your choices on the booking form.

Local organic meat deliveries: If you would like to pre-order meat for your holiday from Janice please email her with your requirements at least a week before your holiday at janicenrose@hotmail.co.uk and she will get back to you with what’s in season. We can highly recommend her produce from her chemical free tasty vegetables to her delicious steaks or Sunday joints – we eat them regularly.

Duloe Community Shop: our village shop is now run by the community and stocks a good range of provisions as well as excellent local veg, newspapers etc. Please support it! Open Monday - Friday 8am-5pm (shut for lunch 1-2pm) and Saturday 8am-1pm. While they don't deliver, they are happy to order/reserve papers, magazines or particular items for you to pick up - just pop in and ask or give them a ring on 01503 265592.

Pengelly's Fishmonger's: In East Looe on the quay right by the fish market (also have a second shop in Liskeard). Looe is one of the very few remaining working fishing ports in Cornwall and fish is still landed here most days. And it doesn't come much fresher than from the quayside's own fishmonger. You might like to take pot luck and buy what's freshly landed today, or if you'd like to order something in advance to pick up give them a ring on 01503 262246.

All-Local Produce Breakfast Boxes

Delivered to your cottage for your arrival so there's no need to think, 'what are we going to eat in the morning'. Breakfast boxes by Lower Killigorrick Farm (Janice and Chris of our local produce stall) are seriously local tasty treats, with the meat and eggs often from their own smallholding just the other side of Duloe village. Everything in your breakfast box is guaranteed to be locally produced. We eat the produce in the boxes ourselves on a regular basis so there's probably no higher recommendation - and Jo and Alec even commissioned Jeanette from Overcoombe Farm to make the jam for the cream teas at their wedding. Combined with supper from Coombe Kitchen for your first night, a breakfast box makes the ultimate hassle-free foodie treat.

There's a meaty and a meat-free option and both come in two sizes. We reckon that regular size feeds two people for up to 3 mornings or a hungry family for one hearty breakfast, and large size feeds a family of four for up to 3 mornings or a larger family of about eight for one hearty breakfast.

How to Order:
Breakfast Boxes can be ordered at the time of booking by selecting your choice on the booking form. If you decide you would like to order a breakfast box nearer the time of your arrival, please contact us with your selection by email or on 01503 262730 and with a bit of notice we can almost always arrange this for you.

Local Veg Boxes

With really local produce, from Janice and Chris Rose's organic smallholding at Lower Killigorrick Farm (or their next nearest local suppliers if they're running short of anything). You can order two sizes of box with a surprise selection of fresh local veg in season (or possibly not such a seasonal surprise if you're a keen veg gardener yourself!). The selection includes the likes of a seasonal potato variety, onions, carrots and greens, mainly root vegetables in winter (such as parsnip, leeds, swede and cauliflower) and brassicas, and in spring/summer spring greens, beans, salads and soft fruit. Fresh veg, recently picked, pulled or dug just tastes so much more delicious than its supermarket plastic-wrapped rivals and barely needs adornment. And, it's delivered to your door.

Standard size box £11, Large size £16.50.

To the left is is an example of a standard size box from October time - veggies included will of course vary throughout the year.
